God Human Satan Discourse

God Human Satan Discourse

The existence of God, the origin and purpose of the human being, the existence of Satan and his rebellion, these are not peripheral questions. They are the oldest questions. Everything else begins here. The story of Adam and Eve, the defiance of Iblis, the covenant between God and humans, the placement of the human being between the divine and the adversarial, this triangle has been at the root of our values, our identity, and our understanding of existence since the very beginning. God Human Satan discourse is born from the conviction that these conversations are not only permissible, they are also essential and recommended. The most fundamental questions of our lives deserve to be spoken aloud, examined carefully, and shared openly. This discourse creates that space: bringing together voices of different expertise, tradition, and sensibility to open these realities to honest, sustained dialogue. Over the course of this discourse, three distinct conversations unfold, each approaching the theme from a different angle. Together, they traverse the contemporary and personal, the Quranic and prophetic, and a space of open, collective inquiry.

Sessions

1. God Human Satan: A Contemporary Conversation

In this opening session, Sami ur Rehman and Syeda Adeena Zaidi welcome guest speaker Abu Bakr Zafar for an open-ended exploration of contemporary thought. Abu Bakr begins by introducing the vision and genesis of God, and the centuries-old tussle between Human & Satan, setting up the conceptual foundation for what follows and completing the triangle. The dialogue then shifts to a deeper exchange as the hosts guide Abu Bakr through essential, enduring questions. Together, they explore our relationship with the Divine in a fast-paced modern world, examine the hidden, often unacknowledged footprints of Satan in everyday human experience, and reflect on the origin and purpose of human existence, why we are here, and what we are meant to do with that.

2. God Human Satan: In Islamic Tradition

The second session grounds the conversation in its most authoritative source. In dialogue with Shaykh Sharafat Ali, the host explores what the Quran and Prophetic tradition reveal objectively and completely about who God is, why the human being was created, and the prolonged presence of Satan in interfering with human purpose. The session examines the Quranic account of creation, the story of Adam and Iblis, and the nature of the choice placed before every human being: between the path illuminated by God and the path darkened by the adversary. Where does the influence of God lead a human being? And where does the influence of Satan lead? These questions are explored not through opinion or interpretation alone, but through the clarity of revealed knowledge.

3. God Human Satan: A Public Conversation

The third session turns the discourse into a shared space of public inquiry. Held as an online gathering, this session brings together students of knowledge, thinkers, writers, philosophers, intellectuals, and seekers to openly explore the questions surrounding the God Human Satan triangle. Rather than placing one voice above the others, the session invites participants to raise questions, share perspectives, bring forward their knowledge and experiences, and engage with one another in an exchange of ideas. Together, we will question, contemplate, challenge, and reflect, not to establish who is right or who knows more, but to deepen our collective understanding through reason, openness, and intellectual honesty.
